Use the Flow Launcher Theme Builder and Export XAML

Appearance and settings · Published October 30, 2026 · Publisher: flowlauncher.app

At a glance

The theme builder on this site lets you adjust appearance controls and save a generated theme file. Its preview is a browser approximation; validate the exported XAML in your installed Flow version. The theme export remains a local file-generation action and is separate from the program Download buttons.

Steps to follow

  1. Open Theme Builder and start from its default preset. Change one visible control, such as a text color or border setting.
  2. Check the preview for readable query text, result titles, subtitles, and selection contrast.
  3. Save the generated XAML using the builder’s file-export control. Keep a separate preset file if you want to continue editing the same configuration later.
  4. Import the theme through the documented Flow theme workflow and compare it with the preview. Return to a built-in theme if rendering differs.

Check the result

A nonempty XAML file is saved, and your intended change is represented in its contents. Browser export success does not establish that every visual setting renders identically in Windows.

Limits and common pitfalls

Transparency, blur, fonts, and Windows-specific resources cannot be fully validated by a browser preview. Do not treat a screenshot of the builder as a Windows runtime test.

Make the check repeatable

Use incremental filenames for experiments so a readable version remains available. A preset is useful for rebuilding the same theme controls, while the exported XAML is useful for application import. Keep both when sharing a reproducible theme issue, but remove any personal notes first.

Questions and answers

Why is Save File not connected to FileDrop?

It exports the theme you created locally. FileDrop handles downloading the program; replacing the builder export would break the editing tool.
