Tune Flow Launcher Search Result Priorities

At a glance

Plugin priority changes the relative weight of results produced by a plugin. It is useful when valid app, file, and bookmark results compete for the same query. Priority is a ranking control, not a repair for an index that never returns the requested item.

Steps to follow

  1. Pick three representative queries and record their top results before changing anything.
  2. Open the relevant plugin in Settings and inspect the Priority value near its name and description.
  3. Change one priority at a time. Re-run the same queries and compare the entire top-result set, not only the one query you want to improve.
  4. Give a specialized plugin a dedicated action keyword if increasing its global priority creates too much noise. Restore the previous value when the overall result is worse.

Check the result

The intended plugin’s useful results become easier to reach without dominating unrelated searches. Missing results should be diagnosed separately.

Limits and common pitfalls

Extreme weights can make every query feel less relevant. There is no universal best priority value because each machine has different apps, files, and plugins.

Make the check repeatable

A small query set is a practical alternative to arbitrary tuning. Include a name that exists both as an application and a document, one bookmark, and one everyday app. Keep your original values so that the experiment is reversible without resetting the whole profile.

Questions and answers

Can increasing priority fix a file that never appears?

No. First confirm that the search engine and plugin produce that file as a result; only then adjust ranking.
