Flow Launcher Not Finding Browser Bookmarks

Troubleshooting · Published October 30, 2026 · Publisher: flowlauncher.app

At a glance

For missing bookmarks, confirm the correct browser profile and bookmark location before changing global search settings. Test a distinctive bookmark title and compare it with the plugin’s configured sources. Firefox-specific loading problems may also depend on the installed Flow version.

Steps to follow

  1. Open the intended browser profile and confirm that the bookmark exists and opens the correct address.
  2. In Flow Settings, inspect Browser Bookmarks, its enabled state, keyword, and any custom browser location.
  3. Reload plugin data and query the exact bookmark title. Compare a second bookmark to determine whether the problem affects one item or the whole profile.
  4. Check the current Flow release notes. Version 2.1.4 fixes a Firefox profiles.ini line-ending issue.

Check the result

The intended profile’s bookmark appears and opens the correct URL. A bookmark from another profile is not evidence that the target profile is configured correctly.

Limits and common pitfalls

Do not delete or replace a browser’s bookmarks database to repair Flow results. Preserve the browser’s own data and backups.

Make the check repeatable

Useful evidence is a harmless bookmark with a unique title, the browser family, the profile-location pattern, and the Flow version. Redact private links and usernames. A new test bookmark avoids exposing your real browsing organization while still reproducing the indexing behavior.

Questions and answers

Why are bookmarks from one browser found but another is missing?

The plugin may have access to one profile location but not the other. Check custom locations and browser-specific configuration.
